      Reliance Communications, Aircel agree create JV

      Indian mobile telephony operators Reliance Communications and Aircel have agreed to merge their operations into a joint venture, Indian newspaper The Economic Times reported.

      According to the report, the telcos would each own 50% of the new entity. The new joint venture will be the third largest operator in India in terms of subscribers. The two firms had started a 90-day period of exclusive merger talks on December 22.
