1. SCF's first ever Densification Summit, Mumbai 4 - 5 October

Densification is the most important trend in mobile network deployment, and few markets are densifying with such dramatic impact as India. With the prospect of subscriber numbers hitting one billion before the end of the decade, operators have no choice but to add capacity and coverage as rapidly and cost-effectively as they can.

This is why Small Cell Forum’s first ever Densification Summit, and its first ever event in India, are coinciding on October 4-5 in Mumbai. It is open to members and non-members alike, and the programme will be a packed one, enabling attendees to hear the experiences of many players in this huge country, and understand how those can relate to other markets too.

There is nothing like hearing an operator’s experience at first hand to highlight the real issues of densification, and delegates will have the rare privilege of hearing detailed insights from an MNO which is deploying small cells at massive scale. Reliance Jio is India’s newest MNO, and is becoming a byword for real-world densification.

As a new entrant, it has the challenge of having to catch up rapidly with more established competitors, but it also has the luxury of a greenfield operation, in which it can choose the newest technology approaches without being burdened by legacy systems. It has deployed a creative mixture of cellular and WiFi cells in different spectrum bands; it has built out extensive fiber to backhaul them and provide fixed-line services; and it has formed partnerships with cities, site owners and other operators to accelerate its roll-out.

This has helped it achieve a highly efficient cost base, which has allowed it to offer keenly priced services and become India’s fourth largest MNO in less than a year from launch.

Sign up now to be in the room to hear the details of this remarkable deployment, and to make your views heard on the key priorities for densification. You will also have the chance to gain updates on SCF’s current work program for 4G densification and the road to 5G. So make sure you have your say on SCF’s directions, while discussing how India’s experiences can throw light on commercial and technical deployment issues all round the world.

There will be a wide range of operators, vendors, industry partners and integrators to offer regional and national perspectives. To be among them – whether you are an SCF member or not – do sign up now and we look forward to seeing you in Mumbai.
